The project centred around the development of a new business model for local beer brands in rural Brazil. By creating a framework for cooperation between Ambev and local farmers, new beer brands were developed using locally sourced ingredients to brew new beers and these were packaged with unique cultural styles. The succes of the approach translated into new jobs and an increased sense of local pride.
In a nutshell, the project reduced poverty by brewing more beers, and for that it has been won the 2021 Fast Company World Changing Idea Award for LATAM.
The award honours the businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to pursuing innovation to solve health and climate crises, social injustice, or economic inequality.
