Oticon released a new flagship product: OPN Sound. To showcase the benefits of this new technology, we built a virtual reality experience that allows users to experience how it feels to be hearing impaired.
Challenge
Oticon needed to stand out at the biggest audiology fair in the world, AAA, to present their new flagship product OPN Sound. Their new technology allows hearing impaired people to hear 360° sound.
This new technology makes it possible to intuitively focus on single conversations in crowded rooms. The challenge; how do you communicate this groundbreaking new technology to people that are not hearing impaired - audiology dispensers.
How we solved it
To demonstrate the shift in technology we created a Virtual Reality Experience to give audiologist from across the world the opportunity to experience Oticons Opn first hand and give them an insight into the new world hearing aid. We created a scenario of a hearing impaired actor playing a role in a complex listening environment taking place at a dinner party.
Through the eyes and ears of the actor, the user experienced the same scenario twice - letting them feel the difference between directional and open soundscape. According to the press both Oticons product and experiences were the highlight of the conference.
The Virtual Reality experience was built to work on an android phone making it possible for anyone to take part of the experience. Also giving audiologist across the world the possibility of using this to demonstrate the Oticon Opn product to their customers.
