Leading the transition to a sustainable future
Launched by His Majesty King Charles III, the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) brings together a growing coalition of the world’s largest companies with an ambition to accelerate progress towards a sustainable future. As the strategic design partner to the SMI, we deliver seamless digital experiences to ensure that ideas meet backing.
Do we want to go down in history as the people who did nothing to bring the world back from the brink in time to restore the balance when we could have done? I don’t want to. And just think for a moment – what good is all the extra wealth in the world, gained from “business as usual”, if you can do nothing with it except watch it burn in catastrophic conditions?

World Economic Forum, DavosBuilding a unified platform
The SMI sought to simplify access to investment and insurance options for large-scale sustainability projects globally. The main challenge lay in creating a platform that could seamlessly connect stakeholders – including investors and insurers—with diverse projects and opportunities, ensuring both accessibility and a clear framework for sustainable value creation.
Designing a seamless digital experience
Our latest contribution to the SMI is a user-friendly platform integrating detailed information on sustainability projects with investment and insurance options. We developed the Terra Carta X-Change, a bespoke global directory connecting ideas, investors, and the insurance that backs them up – designed to accelerate investment in the world’s most ambitious sustainability projects. Users can easily access details about each project’s scope, financial overview, impact assessment, and relevant points of contact.
Driving impactful connections
His Majesty King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales, launched the Terra Carta X-Change. It provides a roadmap for businesses to move towards a sustainable future, harnessing the power of nature with the resources of the private sector.
The X-Change provides pinpoint access to insurance products relevant to the areas of investment presented by the SMI. It showcases innovative new insurance products and services and critical financial and risk management support across several industries and geographies to drive positive change. Chaired by Lloyds Bank and supported by companies such as AIG, Allianz, AON, and Tokio Marine Kiln, the insurance products presented on the X-Change signal the immense potential for driving sustainable change through the SMI.
