Partnering to elevate Germany’s fiber roll-out

The fiber roll-out in Germany by 2030 is an ambitious project with a goal of nationwide coverage. To bring nationwide fiber connectivity across the country, Deutsche Telekom seeks to provide outstanding user experiences amid a complex roll-out involving millions of households annually.

We are partnering with Deutsche Telekom to design a digital, fully integrated user journey that aligns all touchpoints from customers to contractors, enhancing engagement and efficiency throughout the deployment process.

Challenge

Addressing roll-out complexity

Deutsche Telekom is taking on a seismic challenge. From 2024, it aims to connect 2.5 million households to the fiber networks annually.

The project's scale and time frame bring complexity and opportunity, and we're working together to ensure that the customer experience of the rollout will be simple, smooth, and gratifying.

Approach

Designing for seamless integration

As Deutsche Telekom's strategic and operational design partner, we optimally align touchpoints, brainstorm opportunities, and discover blind spots throughout the entire end-to-end user journey.

To create a simple and seamless user experience, we map and orchestrate the interaction between every relevant party – from customers to landlords, construction companies, joint ventures, and other partners – optimizing the ecosystem.

Outcome

Enhanced adaptability, scalable deployment strategy

2.1 million

households connected to the German fiber networks on average every year

The fully digitized user experience simplifies every touchpoint between the customer and Deutsche Telekom to ensure an optimal rollout. We integrated with existing processes, working with stakeholders from customers to contractors to understand their needs. Through close collaboration with the Gigabit UX team, we built a collective intuition and functional design within the fiber-rollout process.

Deutsche Telekom’s Fiber Hub platform won the Silver Award in the User Experience category at the New York Product Design Awards 2024, the UX Design Award | Product 2024 at the UX Design Awards, and the iF Design Award 2024 in the User Experience category.

Manyone is a strong and reliable design partner. In a seamless cooperation with our internal design teams we have implemented high-quality, functional design for our customers in the complex environment of multi-user interactions within the fiber-rollout process.
