Exploring IoT’s potential to shape processes and products
Airbus partnered with Manyone to explore the potential of IoT (the Internet of Things) to improve processes and products. Through a design-driven approach, we developed prototypes, storyboards, and augmented physical tools, turning abstract ideas into tangible experiences. This empowered Airbus to accelerate digital transformation, demonstrating IoT’s value with hands-on solutions and enabling teams to drive innovation independently.
The gap between abstract technology and practical application
IoT’s promise lies in adding intelligence to interactions, but its complexity can hinder adoption. Airbus needed a way to make the benefits of IoT real, bridging the gap between abstract technology and practical application within its complex manufacturing processes.
Prototyping to bring IoT to life
Collaborating with Airbus, we created prototypes and storyboards to visualize IoT’s impact, combining digital and physical elements to clarify its potential. By designing tools that integrated real-time data into tasks, we ensured that insights were accessible exactly when and where needed for maximum relevance and understanding.
Empowering teams to innovate
By delivering training kits, content, and practical tools, we enabled Airbus teams to adopt IoT into their workflows, scaling innovation internally. The hands-on approach not only validated IoT’s value but also equipped Airbus to independently advance its digital transformation, fostering long-term innovation capacity.
It’s one thing to talk about transformational technologies such as IoT, but actually holding a prototype in your hands and modifying it in real time takes the conversation up several levels.
