Challenge

Fast-paced innovation

The project needed to deliver a pioneering, sustainable EV and digital platform, from concept to production, within an ambitious 18 month timeline. The challenge included balancing cutting-edge design with the technical demands of an M1-class vehicle while aligning with Biomega's vision for future urban mobility.

Approach

From digital to physical with rapid prototyping

We embraced a hybrid digital-to-physical approach. Most of the design was made digitally, augmented by physical prototypes. This allowed the team to work very fast, refining vehicle designs through rapid prototyping and real-time feedback. The process blended in-house ideation and external collaboration to ensure regulatory compliance and innovation, resulting in a concept validated by experts and end-users.

Outcome

Concept to show car to passenger vehicle in 18 months

The Biomega mobility solution reflects our vision of improving urban life through innovative mobility. Presented as a show car at CIIE Shanghai 2018, the vehicle was designed in-house and built with top prototype builders in Munich. In collaboration with German automotive engineers, the concept evolved to meet category M1 (passenger vehicle) regulations. The project not only launched a fully functional vehicle but also earned a Gold Award for Exceptional Product Design at the 2020 German Design Awards, showcasing its impact on the future of city transport.

The projects we honor in the World Changing Ideas Awards are more important than ever. You and your fellow honorees are playing an important role in building a better world. We’re proud to support the bold ideas you’re working on.
