Communicating key product values through emerging technology
Oticon released a new flagship hearing aid: Opn Sound. To showcase this new technology, we built a virtual reality experience allowing users to experience how it feels to be hearing impaired.

Capturing the essence of sound
Oticon needed to stand out at the biggest audiology conference in the world, the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) Conference, to present their new hearing aid, Opn Sound. The new product allows hearing impaired people to hear 360° sound and makes it possible to intuitively focus on single conversations in crowded rooms. The challenge was: how do you communicate this groundbreaking new technology to people that are not hearing impaired?
Experiencing the product through immersive tech
We created a VR experience to give audiologists from across the world the opportunity to experience Oticon’s Opn first hand. The experience simulated real-world hearing scenarios. Using a dinner party setting, participants experienced hearing with and without Oticon’s hearing aid, revealing the product's impact. In the complex listening environment, users were able to experience the difference between directional and open soundscape.
Engaging audiologists globally
According to the press, both Oticon’s new product and the VR experience were key highlights of the fair. Beyond the conference, the portable VR solution also enabled audiologists to demonstrate Opn Sound globally, boosting product visibility.
