Redesigning bit, a leading payment app , for expansion

Client: Bit

Reimagining the payment app of the future

Manyone collaborated with bit to redesign their app for the first time since their initial launch, eight years ago. The goal was to support bit expansion beyond peer-to-peer (P2P) payments by adding substantial new features while maintaining user-friendly navigation. A refreshed digital graphic language and identity enhances the app’s simplicity, coherence, and value.

Challenge

Expanding functionality without disruption

The bit team sought to evolve its app to launch a set of major new core business features, while ensuring its large user base experienced a seamless transition. Balancing innovation and stability was critical to maintaining trust and usability.

Approach

Strategic design and collaboration

Two dedicated teams simultaneously tested UX prototypes and conducted in-depth research to align the redesign with business goals. This parallel approach allowed us to quickly gather user insights and validate new ideas from the get-go.

We partnered with Bit’s product and development teams to ensure a continuous feedback loop. Together, we built a foundation for ongoing product iterations, embracing a launch-refine-optimize cycle that would allow bit to respond dynamically to user needs. The app’s identity was revamped to combine simplicity with enriched financial value.

A new visual identity for the bit app, including screenshots and icons

Partnering with Open, we refined bit’s new visual language, worked together with Fontef to design a custom typeface, and created a new avatar, illustration, and icon language in collaboration with Shira Giladi.

Outcome

Enhanced user experience and scalability

The structural changes were supported by a new visual identity and design system to accelerate the design of the app. The foundation we built in collaboration with bit facilitates continuous optimization in response to user needs, while the new design system and refined graphic language elevate bit’s brand and position it for future innovation.
