Turning digital reading into a habit families love

YOMU is an app that lets kids log their reading and helps parents encourage the habit. Rebranding YOMU meant turning a digital reading tool into something families could truly connect with. Together, we shaped a clear brand strategy, a playful character and a simple visual system that makes reading feel fun, rewarding, and easy to return to every day.

Challenge

Making reading stick

YOMU was looking to stand out in a crowded children’s app market while motivating kids to read regularly. The existing identity lacked warmth and memorability, making it hard for families to build lasting habits. The challenge was to create a brand that felt playful yet trustworthy, encouraging daily use without pressure.

Approach

Designing for play and routine

We developed a clear brand strategy rooted in curiosity. This was supported by a simple, bold visual language.

To build a closer connection with the target audience, we needed to embody the experience. Thus, Tomo was created – a friendly character that became the heart of the brand and a part of the YOMU logo. Every element was designed to reduce friction, spark joy and help reading fit naturally into everyday family life.

Our weekly meetings with Manyone were truly the highlights of the week. The team's creativity and attention to detail made the outcome exciting, and our weekly sessions quickly became something we all looked forward to. It’s rare to see that level of engagement on both sides.

This felt like a truly collaborative journey. The team brought strong expertise, but always with openness and curiosity. Now that the solution is in our hands, we’re already building on it – and we’re excited about what’s next together.
