bit approached Manyone to help redesign the app, for the first time since it launched 8 years ago, helping launch a set of major new core business features, and balancing out careful change & migration of the massive user base.
Our approach to redesigning the bit app fused research, strategy, and design work from day one.
We kicked off with two dedicated teams: one focused on exploring and testing iterative prototypes of navigation & UX changes, while the other conducted research, benchmarking, and synthesis. This parallel approach allowed us to quickly gather user insights and validate new ideas, while working in the target platform from the get-go.
We worked closely with bit’s product & native development teams, maintaining a continuous feedback loop to ensure a focus on business goals, platform consistency & experience fit and finish.
We aimed to help bit build a foundation for ongoing product iterations, embracing a launch-refine-optimize cycle that would allow bit to respond dynamically to user needs, feature adoption and business goals.
We redesigned the bit experience around a new mantra: bitness & substance, aiming to align product & dev teams around a collective mission of balancing the ‘bitness’ of features (lightweight, instant, coherent, satisfying) with the quest to continuously enhance the ‘financial substance’ of adding value for customers, thus embodying bit’s brand as simple, approachable and valuable.
To complement these structural changes, Manyone built a new digital graphic language & a comprehensive design system to enhance and speed up the design of the app.
Partnering with Open, Manyone refined bit’s new brand & graphic language, worked together with Fontef to design a custom typeface, and created a new avatar, illustration & icon language with Shira Giladi.
